2013 - 2014 MLRT MEMBERSHIP

Did you know that Rosh Hashanah starts two days after Labor Day this year? It’s true!
Therefore, we are encouraging all current and prospective MLRT members to submit their 2013-2014 Membership Renewal and Religious School Registration forms as quickly as possible. Religious School registrations will be processed first come, first served for early and late session requests. There will be no exceptions once a session is filled, so if it is critical that your child(ren) be placed in a specific session, you must return your forms as quickly as possible. We are privileged to have you as members of our vibrant community. Thank you for your cooperation!

DONATIONS FOR OKLAHOMA TORNADO VICTIMS

The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) is accepting donations in the wake of the deadly tornado in Oklahoma. The URJ is working closely with our congregations in the affected region to assure the safety of their congregants, their neighbors, their structures and to determine next steps in relief work.

"We are numb with grief, and yet inspired by the heroic resilience of the people of Oklahoma. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted by this horrific tragedy," said URJ President Rabbi Rick Jacobs.  "For now, we will collect donations and distribute them to the American Red Cross and others on the ground in Oklahoma. As other needs arise, perhaps including volunteers to assist with the clean-up and rebuilding, we stand ready to help in any way possible."

To make a donation online visit www.urj.org/relief. Checks can be sent to the Union for Reform Judaism (Attn: Oklahoma Tornado Relief), 633 Third Ave., New York, NY 10017 or to the Canadian Council for Reform Judaism, 3845 Bathurst St. Suite 301, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M3H 3N2.

Please join us in sending thoughts and prayers to the individuals, families and communities impacted by this event.

MLRT @ 60: A LOOK BACK

As Main Line Reform Temple celebrates 60 years, we take a look back from where we came. Read each month as we feature a column written by a congregant who has memories of Main Line Reform Temple back in the day. We hope you read and enjoy “MLRT @ 60: A Look Back.”  If you would like to be featured columnist in the coming months, contact Linda Gordon at lindandan@comcast.net.
