MITZVAH DAY PROJECTS

WALK THE GREYHOUNDS  
 

Volunteers will take retired greyhounds for a much needed walk. Meet at National Greyhound Adoption Kennel at 9:00 am –11:00 am.

 

Directions: Take I-95 North to Academy Road.  Follow signs to Torresdale Ave.  Make a right at end of ramp.  Go down 4 lights.  The 4th light is Ashburner St.  Go through light to next little street (Wingate St).  Make a left.  Go to the last gate on the right.  You'll see a sign for N.G.A.P. Kennel.  Make a right through gate and as soon as you get through gate make a left and go back as far as you can.  You'll see the trailers and exercise yards. The phone number for the Kennel is 215-331-3625.  Call if you get lost.

 

Registration is limited to 15 families.

CEMETERY RESTORATION  


Join with members of Congregation Beth David to help maintain historic Gladwyne Jewish Cemetery with light clean up. Meet at parking lot of Congregation Beth David in Gladwyne at 10:00 am. Bring rakes, clippers and dress for outdoors. This project will not go forward if it rains.

Directions: Take 23 East (Conshohocken State Road) toward Gladwyne until you see small Beth David sign on the right. Turn into Vaughans Lane and proceed to the end.

Join our Junior Jammers in bringing joy to the residents. Even if you don’t sing, we encourage you to share any other talents you posses, or just bring smiles to the faces of the residents as you interact/ play games with them.

MITZVAH FOOD PANTRY  


Sort and package breakfast food for senior citizens, make Mother’s Day cards for residents. Meet at the Klein JCC at 9:30 am, 10100 Jameson Avenue, Philadelphia (between Bustleton and the Boulevard).  Stay for a Theatre Ariel performance at 12:30 pm on Early Jewish Life in Philadelphia. This promises to be a great show!

LOWER MERION CONSERVANCY  


Help the environment by cleaning streams and parks in Lower Merion. Meet at the Ashbridge Memorial Park at 9:30 am. Dress for outdoor weather, wear rubber boots and bring work gloves.

Directions: Go down on Montgomery Avenue towards Bryn Mawr. Cross Roberts and at the next cross roads, which will be Airdale, turn right. The park will be the first driveway on the left. Park your car and go down the hill.

PEGASUS RIDING ACADEMY  


Help with spring cleaning of the grounds, painting facility
, set up for horse show. Bring work gloves, dress for outdoors and wear closed toe shoes. Meet at Temple at 9:00 am to
ride on the bus
. Bus will return to Temple at 12:00 noon. There is a horse show at 12:00 noon. You can stay and help sell food and watch the show. You will need to drive yourself to and from Pegasus if you wish to stay for the show.

 

Directions: Pegasus Riding Academy is located at 8297 Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152. 

 Go on Route 1-North (Roosevelt Blvd) Stay in inside lanes. After Rhawn St. make a left on Strahle St. before the light, at Bustleton, into the driveway.

Project HOME: Travel size toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioners, soap, disposable razors, deodorant, shaving cream, hair brushes, and combs.

 

Lower Merion Conservancy: Yellow rubber dish gloves, palmed gardening gloves, hand-held mesh strainer, gardening towels and spades, outgrown rubber boots.

 

Mitzvah Food Pantry: Non-refrigerated breakfast items: cereal, fruit, juice boxes, tea bags, single serving coffee, hot chocolate, and paper goods.
