TASHLICH SERVICE 2010/5771
Annual Tashlich Service at Short Ridge Park

Thursday, September 9 • 4:30 pm

Between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, it is customary to throw bread crumbs into a body of water as a symbolic act of repentance.  Most Jews do "Tashlich" on the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah. Family and friends gather together at a body of water to "cast away" the sins of the past year and to resolve to be a better person in the year to come.  The liturgy, which takes less than ten minutes, is short and consists mainly of selections from the Prophets and Writings.  This is a very child-friendly service.  We will throw bread crumbs into the brook that runs through Short Ridge Park.  The service will start thirty minutes after the MLRT Rosh Hashanah Family Service ends.   Everyone is invited.  Bring friends and family even if they are not MLRT members.  Also, bring some bread!   Directions to Short Ridge Park: Leave MLRT parking lot and turn left onto Penn Road.  Go to end of Penn Road and take left onto East Wynnewood Road.  Go approximately one half mile.  Take right onto Short Ridge Drive.  The park and brook will be your right, where you will easily find me and lots of others.  (Alternatively [assuming that you could take a right from the MLRT entrance, which of course you cannot]:  go down North Wynnewood Avenue AWAY from Montgomery Avenue.  Take left onto East Wynnewood Road and go about one third of a mile until you take a right onto Shortridge Drive.)
