Tisha B’Av starts on Saturday night, August 6, and continues through August 7.
Our multi-access joint Eicha/ Erev Tisha B’Av program with Beth David Reform Congregation will start with Havdalah, followed by prayers, teachings, and the chanting of Eicha. We will also hear from our guest speaker from CeaseFirePA, Adam Garber.
Join us at 7:30 pm at MLRT or participate from home via Livestream. Masks are required for this indoor commemoration.
When Tisha B’Av falls on Shabbat, like it does this year, the fast is postponed until Saturday night.
Just as today, Jews have long struggled to make sense of suffering and loss. We have approached these painful issues in diverse ways, satisfying some and frustrating others. Tisha B’Av provides us with an opportunity to consider how ancient Jews dealt with the terrible loss of their time, the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem in 70 CE.
